Eccles Lodge of Mark Master Masons. No.843

Installation Meeting Friday 8th March 2024
Eccles Masonic Hall 46, Half Edge Lane, Eccles. M30 9BA

Looking forward to this Mark meeting tonight, not far to go either, no M60, no on ramps, no M6, just 10 minutes from home and I was there, plenty of car parking spaces and what a welcome you always get from the members of Eccles Mark, you always feel right at home. Genuine handshakes of friendship, lots of friendly chat and several offers to get me a swift half, as we are always saying “The Magic of the Mark” if you’ve had a bad day a Mark meeting is sure to cheer you up.
The meeting started on time at 5pm and following several items of housekeeping,

VW. Bro. Geoffrey Bury PGJO Asst Prov Grand Master entered the Temple escorted on this occasion by W.Bro. Austin N Fletcher PGJD. The WM (acting) W.Bro. Peter Burrows PPrGJW welcomed Geoff to the meeting on behalf of everyone present, he in turn thanked the WM and all the Brethren for their warm welcome and wished them a very pleasant evening.

Now it was time to Install Bro. Terence Morrison into the Chair of Adoniram, this was done in fine style by W.Bro. Peter Burrows assisted by members of the Lodge, Peter also presented the Keystone Collarette and Festival Jewel, the address to the W.M. was given by W.Bro. Ian Buxton Edge PGStdB along with the address to the Wardens. Peter was in action again when he gave the address to the Overseers, the Working Tools of the Degree were presented and explained by Bro. Aaron Longbottom and finally the moving  address to all was given by V.W. Bro. Geoff Bury PGJO Asst Prov GM.
At the conclusion of the Installation, Geoff was pleased to give the greetings of R.W. Bro. Keith Alan Beardmore PGM, whom he said was well aware of the meeting taking place and presented the new WMM with a welcoming letter from Keith and an invitation to the Provincial Mark Meeting in Blackpool on the 2nd May.  The WM Terence then had much  pleasure in presenting the Asst PGM with a cheque for the West Lancs Mark Charity to the value of £200, he thanked him saying it was a wonderful amount and would be well received and put to good use. The Lodge has also donated £200 to “Salford by the Sea” a Children’s Holiday Camp Charity. (Which provides holidays for needy children)
A few pictures were taken on closing to record the occasion before everyone made their way downstairs for some liquid refreshment and taking up their allotted seats for the Festive Board. An excellent meal was served by a hard-working member of the Hall Staff, several Toasts and Responses were given and well received.

Of special mention is the Lodge Secretary W.Bro. Bob Allman PPrGJW the PGM’s Special Rep, who had organised a great meeting and the hard-working DC W.Bro. Ian Edge PGStdB along with W.Bro. Peter Burrows PPrGJW (Installing Master) who both contributed with excellent parts of the ritual during the Installation.
Here’s looking forward to the next Mark meeting to see old friends and those I have yet to meet. Not yet a member of the Royal Ark Mariner Degree ? if you’re interested just ask your special representative, or your Lodge Secretary who will have everything at hand to introduce you to the special colourful Degree.
